Layit. The problem that you are reffering to happened to a friend of mine. I loaded your appication on his PC and when he told me he had been matched as a lay on a selection that he was trying to back(different horse) I just thought he had mucked up. I haven't had the problem myself.

WOM = Weight of Money - add together the amount that people are trying to lay, add together the amount peoiple are trying to back - the ratio between the two is the first number displayed. The absolute monetary difference between the two is the second number displayed. The colour (blue or pink) indicates back or lay action you should take to take advantage if the WOM "pushes" the price in the direction expected.

Probably easiest to illustrate it with some examples:

If there is £100 available to BACK, and £50 to LAY, then the WOM will be Pink, with a ratio of 2 (£100 divided by £50) and the difference is £50.

If there is £130 available to BACK and £140 available to Lay, then the WOM will be Blue, with a ratio of 1.1 (£140 divided by £130, rounded off to one decimal place) and the difference is £10.

I forgot to mention - it doesn't consider all available money - just the three prices for Back and Lay that are displayed (and the range of these prices can obviously be large or small - which changes what you can read from the information).

Hope that helps

If your not using API then you maybe using either the placeBetsManager or using a ElementsByTagName senario (VBNet) . In running sometimes the lay prices are not filled, and if youre parsing the odds data it is likely that a missing price will upset the order of the search and therefore when a price>0 is found this is used in place of missing/null price. This would account for why the running order got scrambled and when the odds reappeared it sorted itself.

Hope that helps.

Lex. Thanks. null prices are are not affecting the program. You can check this by going to a market which hasn't got any prices yet. Also the program does not use the position of the selection in the list to place the bet. Each selection has a unique id which does not change when non runners are removed etc. This id is used when placing the bet. The only way in which a wrong selection can be taken is if the program is reporting that you clicked in a different cell to the one you actually clicked on. I can't find any evidence of this myself. It would mean there is a bug in the .NET framework. I've search the web, but can't find a reference to a bug like this.

A message appears saying 'cannot connect to Betfair website, check your internet connection', even though I am connected to the internet. Have tried re installing but that hasn't fix'd it. Grateful for any ideas, thanx

New feature (version 0.92a).

Under the lay field/back field buttons there is a new tick box 'Cancel remaining when matched'.

To use:-

Tick 'Cancel remaining when matched'.
Wait for an event to go in play then lay/back the field.
As soon as one of the bets is matched the rest will be cancelled.

I'm sure you can find a use for it.

A brilliant program, getting better by the day! A Small suggestion - how about putting the "Time until start" in a larger, more prominent window, maybe above the two central Back/Lay columns. That way it would be in line of sight.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
