Automated Betting Help

Postby Millbolt » Mon Sep 08, 2025 10:10 pm

Hi I am a newbie so please excuse me . I recently tried to get GTPCHAT to write a python script to place bets on UK Greyhounds. I has an excel input sheet with the following colums

Track Date Time Grade Distance Trap Dog Name F Time BetType Stake
Sunderland 08/09/2025 14:48 A1 450m 6 EMERS BEAN 4.682 BACK £1.00
Sunderland 08/09/2025 14:48 A1 450m 2 BILLY BLUE SHOES 5.028 LAY £1.00
etc etc

The rule was to trigger the bet 1 min before off time and BAck is odds > 2.5 and LAy if odds <2.5

The script appeared to work and ignored races that has been run but when it came to the 1 minute mark it didnt place any bets saying market could not be found.

Does any kind person know a script or somewhere I can be directed to get this to work.

MAny thanks in anticipation

Have you considered using Betting Assistant to do it for you instead of Python?

BA integrates well with excel and there are example sheets here viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3557 where you can simply enter the selections.

If you need to go down the solely python route you'd be better off having python download the race markets from Betfair to get the correct eventID's so everything would match up exactly for each market.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
