Betting in Spain

Postby richardphunt » Fri Mar 04, 2016 9:24 am

I am currently on holiday in mainland Spain, Puerto Banus. I have bought my UK laptop loaded with BA vers 1.3.0.36 and Office 2010. I can login to BA ok and BA displays my account balance OK. Opening horse racing markets the grid displays market information as expected. I can connect my bot to markets ok and I can see that the bot is working as expected, however ...

When placing bets via the bot , lay and back bets I receive the same result in the status area of BA is "Error placing bet (API ERROR)" the error in the account log simply states "CANNOT_ACCEPT_BET"

I receive the same errors when placing one-click bets on the grid.

Is there an issue using UK accounts via the API originating from Spanish located IP addresses?

Yes richardphunt, you have to use a VPS or VPN from Spain with you UK account (your connection will have to come from an allowed country). A VPN is a lot cheaper and you can buy one for a month, you will have your connection delayed because you will have an extra server on your way to betfair but it will solve your problem.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
