Has the tick offset changed

Postby Captain Sensible » Mon Mar 30, 2009 3:09 pm

I've downloaded a new version 1.1.0.52 and it no longer seem to fire in partially matched offset bets, just seems to wait til it's all matched. Been such a long time since I changed version dunno if there's some settings I need to amend

You've mentioned this before and after testing I could not find anything wrong with the tick offset partial bet placement. It does place the offset portion for partially matched bets. Try it by self matching on a quiet market and you will see that it does work.

It's done it a couple of times today and only fired the remaining portion once the markets moved back in and taken the ful stake. Reading the help file it seems it's set to do that

so for example with £100 stakes and a fill percentage of 50% the tick offset bet will not fire until at least £50 has been matched, any remaining stake will still be cancelled.

I have the tick offset set at 100% and auto level off. I'll if I can try and catch the next time it happens

We are updating the help file at the moment. It will be less misleading because that is not how it works. Fill 50% means that once at least 50% of the original bet is matched the remaining unmatched portion will be cancelled and therefore no further tick offsets placed, if any of the 50% is matched partially then it will be placed.

I am convinced this feature is working correctly, it has been tested thoroughly.

just done it again on me,

My £50 lay was nibbled away in 5 lots but the offset didn't fire until all £50 was matched. Although the offset was matched in pieces the bet ref confirms it went as one bet.

Are you saying it does this every time or have you seen instances where it has placed the offset bets in pieces? One thing that it could be is that the position is evaluated after every price refresh not every bet refresh. If the price refresh is delayed then the offset placement could appear to be behind the bets refresh. Did you notice if the actual refresh rate at the top of the screen was slow at the time?

Didn't seem the refresh rate was slow, seems to happen all the while at the moment don't know if it's linked t the fact I have fill and kill set . I recorded one just to show what I mean , I'll try and get some free hosting to post the avi file

I stuck the avi file here

http://download133.mediafire.com/dmdjd2 ... ture-1.avi

only 3mb so wont take long to download

If you look at the lay of Krugerand you can see it's being taken in chunks and BA is receiving the bet data as it's continually updating the position but only fires the offset once all is matched

Thanks. I am looking into it.

If anyone reading this thread has trouble viewing the video it's because you need the Techsmith Screen Capture Codec. You can download it at http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp

I have for some technical reason which I can't quite remember because I didn't comment my code properly  deliberately made it so that if you are laying first and using the "SP in Play" option then it will only place the offset back bet when the lay is fully matched. I will investigate and see if it was really necessary to do this. It is only this combination that should cause the problem which is probably why nobody else has mentioned it.

Thanks Gary at least I wasn't seeing things all this time :) I always use the SP as some form of protection against system/betfair crashes or forgetting to balance up before the off.

I imagine you may have set the code because of Betairs minimum bet limitation of £2 for BSP back bets but as far as I'm aware they take the BSP bets as a whole, I've no problem with it being set for the £2 minimum before placement.

Did you find out the reason why it was stuck in gary ? and more importantly can it be removed. It really is a pain to see the market swing all the way out but nothing get placed because £2 of a £100 bet hasn't been matched .

And just as annoying is the offset gets placed once the remaining gets cancelled at the off and fails either due to invalid persistance/market still suspended.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
