BA Launcher stopped working

Postby lindemann » Fri May 22, 2015 9:19 am

Since Wednesday morning I've been unable to open BA and I keep getting this message about BA Launcher stopped. I've tried every combination of uninstall/reboot/reinstall I can think of and I've used System Restore successfully but it doesn't cure the problem. I've even installed a rival product (Basic version only, no money changing hands here) and it works fine, the problem affects BA only.

I've also got problems with Excel being very sluggish and AdBlock has stopped working in Google Chrome, the logo is visible but no ads are blocked. Rightly or wrongly I'm blaming the Windows Update snowstorm that I got last week (20 updates FFS) but I can't find a cure.

Any ideas about the BA Launcher problem? Fixing Microsoft is also an option but postcard-sized answers only please.

Hi,

Can you try bypassing the launcher program which basically checks for updates.
Go to Program Files/Betting Assistant and run the program "Betting Assistant.exe"

Sorry Mark, I'd already tried this without success. I've just tried again and it simply tells me Betting Assistant has stopped working.

Hi,

I know you said that you already tried Windows System Restore, but could you try it again going back further as that does normally sort out this type of problem.

Mark

I'd already gone back as far as possible Mark. I think you're right in saying that something in my Windows system is corrupt, I've run System File Checker and it pretty much confirms this but can't repair. I'm now into a Non-destructive Repair of Windows 7 using an ISO image on a USB drive (whatever that means, I'm just following the instructions on screen). Fingers crossed.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
