Bets < requested stake

Postby MiniBlueDragon » Wed Apr 30, 2014 4:48 pm

Probably just a setting I've missed or enabled by accident but I seem to have a lot of bets lately being matched for far less than the requested stake on BA for BetDaq. All bets are submitted 20 seconds before the off and for 50p stake at odds of 1.01 and I see the request is correct which is being fired into the market but the actual amount of pennies that's being matched is far less, e.g.

Requested £0.50 @ 1.01 on Dullingham
Matched £0.06 @ 2.83

I don't quite get why though. Any ideas?

I presume Betdaq and Betfair work in the same way. If you place a back bet at odds of 1.01, Betfair automatically chooses the highest available odds first - if there is only 6p available at those odds then that this what it will take, it should then place the remaining 44p at the next available highest odds - only if there was less than 50p available at any odds would your complete bet not get matched.

When the scenario you described happens on the website the two sets of odds it matched at (6p at 2.00 as an example and 44p at 1.98) you see either a single averaged-odds bet or you can break it down and see both bets at their respective odds. In either event the full stake of 50p has been matched.

In this case however it seems that only the first portion of the bet is getting matched and the remaining amount just disappears leaving a single bet of 6p in the market.

Theoretically if I'm only getting matched for a portion of my stake on a winning bet but I'm getting matched at the full stake on losing bets the software is not usable as I'll never recoup enough on the winners to offset the losers.

I didn't know about this. Is there any other way to get around it though?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
