Hi Gary, I just installed the betting assistant yesterday and I am getting a similar problem as described at the beginning of this thread.
I am not sure if the problem is with the software or something wrong with my setup.

I am running windows 7 premium home edition English which I upgraded this week from a windows 7 premium home edition German.

I have office 2010 installed which is running fine.

I tried installing .NET 2.0 but got a message that my 64bit version of windows is not supported. (alarm bells?)
I installed .NET 4.0 which installed succesfully.

and the BA_Diagnostic contains:
19:14:15:185: Login problem. The following URL was returned: http://accountservices.betfair.comnull
19:14:16:277: System.Net.WebException: The remote name could not be resolved: 'accountservices.betfair.comnull'
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
at Betting_Assistant.BetfairWeb.getPage(String url, Boolean expired, Int32 timeOut)
19:14:26:713: addMarkets(). Market type:UK WIN
19:14:27:041: addMarkets(). Market type:SOCCER
19:14:35:293: System.Exception: Cannot create ActiveX component.
at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction.GetObject(String PathName, String Class)
at Betting_Assistant.ExcelOptions.init()
19:14:40:707: System.Exception: Cannot create ActiveX component.
at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction.CreateObject(String ProgId, String ServerName)
at Betting_Assistant.ExcelOptions.init()
19:16:37:118: System.Exception: Cannot create ActiveX component.
at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction.GetObject(String PathName, String Class)
at Betting_Assistant.ExcelOptions.init()
19:17:19:099: System.Exception: Cannot create ActiveX component.
at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction.GetObject(String PathName, String Class)
at Betting_Assistant.ExcelOptions.init()
19:17:27:196: System.Exception: Cannot create ActiveX component.
at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction.GetObject(String PathName, String Class)
at Betting_Assistant.ExcelOptions.init()
19:17:28:194: System.Exception: Cannot create ActiveX component.
at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction.GetObject(String PathName, String Class)
at Betting_Assistant.ExcelOptions.init()

I have tried the following:
Launch BA
launch excel
open sheet Place_Bets.xls
click log current prices

the workbook name select object is not showing anything.

Kill all excel processes actually kills my open excell session

if I browse and select Place_Bets.xls nothing happens (before or after the kill)

So, before I go and do a clean install (which I really really really do not want to do) I was wondering if you could offer some advice.

Thanks
garfield

Have you got the "click to run" version of Office 2010? It does not work with this version. See http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/forum/v ... 0&start=21 for solution.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
