Postby remi1remi1 » Sun Sep 17, 2006 8:59 pm

just to let you know anyone thinking of betting less than the £2 minimum each bet placed will count as 6 bets. if you place more than 166 bets in any 1 hour you will be charged 2 pence per bet over 1000 bets make sure you keep bets to less than 1000 per hour

Where are you finding this?

Sure in order to place a bet under £2 whihc ever software you are using has to do a bit of fiddling around with multiple bets (or you can do it yourself manually) - but I've never seen anything to suggest that you get charged for the number of bets

Pete - that is correct - you are charged if you make more than 1000 transactions within one hour but any commission you pay is deducted. The following is from the Service forum.

Betfair Customer Services 25 Aug 09:14

Following feedback from a number of members, we are updating the way we calculate Transaction Charges for Financial markets.

For the purpose of Transaction Pricing, bets on financial markets will count as 0.25 of a bet. All other aspects of Transaction Charging will remain the same.

The updated details of the scheme are as follows:

· For each member, we will calculate the bets you place or edit in excess of 1000 in each hour of the day (including matched, cancelled or lapsed bets). Note that bets on financial markets will count as 0.25 of a bet.

· For API users we will multiply this sum by 1p, for website users we will multiply this sum by 2p.

· This will form the basis of the transaction charge. However, we will deduct from the charge any commission you have paid us during the day.

· Any remaining amount will be charged to your account on a daily basis.

Example:
You are a Website user who pays commission of £20.00 throughout a given day.
However, between the hours of 14:00 and 15:00 you place 3000 bets on financial markets and 1500 bets on non-financial markets. In all other hours you place less than 1000 bets on all markets.
Your base transaction charge is (((3000*0.25) + 1500) – 1000)*£0.02 = £25.00.
Therefore you will be billed an additional £25.00-£20.00 = £5.00 on the following day.

The change will apply from 1st September 2006. For further details please contact trans@betfair.com

remi1remi1 is correct. Check out the transaction pricing threads on the service section of the betfair forum.

Worth noting that it is offset against commission paid. If you pay a reasonable amount of comm you'll negate the charges unless you are having many thousands of bets per hour.

Lovely - thanks very much :-)

I haven't got an automated system working yet that could place that many - will bear it in mind

:D I am a total novice from across the Pond and was referred to your wonderful site by an acquaintance in the UK who is helping me learn about horseracing in general and that in the UK in particular.

The site is fantastic and all are most fortunate to benefit from your talent and generosity. :D

For some time now I have been paper trading to learn the ropes and have been using version 0.99o.

I wish to download the API version but have been unable to find it anywhere! I have searched the Betfait Forums without success.

When you have a moment please advise me what to do.

I am a retired old coot and have few computer skills, so any directives will need to be simple and straight forward.

TIA,

Coolbear

Many thanks PeterB for your trouble :D

However, when I go to that site, the page that develops is the same page from which I downloaded the application I have except that it now links to version ".098j" :(

What am I missing or not doing right :?: I wouldlike to download the latest API version.

Thanks again,

Coolbear

 Now, when I try to login with my version, I get an error message that I cannot copy and paste here nor can I print a screen shot

I now have no access to this application. Can anybody help?

TIA,

Coolbear.

Pretty sure 98j is the latest API version.

Have you downloaded this?

You'll probably end up with an API version and the original screenscraping one.

Hi all i have just been "charged" for making over 1000 bets per hour and it was something i was totally unaware of.

Is the above info still correct regarding any under £2 bets?

Cheers

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
