how do i set up conditional betting , help please

Postby jumpsfan » Tue Nov 16, 2010 2:38 pm

can anyone help me please. i would like to set up conditional betting in gruss but i am a bit unsure how to do it. eg:
i would like to back the favourite, but only if the the last priced matched is between 2.2 - 2.6 , but to put a back bet in at 1.7 .
can i then apply a tick offset to lay it back at 1.1
thanks

Sorry, you cannot specify a tick offset bet when using conditional betting. Excel triggered betting is your only option.

Hi jumpsfan
I think the Conditional Bets function in Betting Assistant is one of the best features and I use it all the time.
If you want to back the favourite, select 'last price matched' from the Check Price option, then from the 'If' option select 'between', then Price 1 would be entered as 2.2 and Price 2 as 2.6 then place a Back bet at the Back price ( which will be falling if the favourite is looking like winning ), for the stake that you require.
You could open another Conditional bet to place your Lay bet.

thanks for the reply chaser.
so if i set it up as you say, and put in "back price" , i might get matched at 2.3, but i may also get matched at 1.6 if the price has fallen rapidly?
thanks again

Hi jumpsfan
When I replied, I assumed that you wanted to trigger your conditional bet 'in-running'.
I set up my conditional bets pre-race and activate when the race turns 'in-running'. I choose 'last price matched' from the Check price option because it is just possible that the last matched price may be the Lay odds which would be better than the Back Odds.
Don't bother about tick offset because you can open up a second Conditional bet for the same runner, I do all this pre-race and activate as required , you can always trade out for your profit in the green box on the grid interface.
Hope this helps

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
