Excel- Bet Ref problem- any clues?

Postby Spike » Tue Feb 24, 2009 9:01 pm

Hello, I'd be really grateful if anyone could help me out- my problem is this:

I'm putting back orders into horse racing markets automatically and then moving on to the next market before they are matched- essentially in the hope that they will be matched later.

I'd like to automate the whole process so I've made myself a spreadsheet that calculates stakes and odds and submits the orders. So far It's all going swimmingly except that when the spreadsheet ticks over onto the next market (at a specified time via the B.A Auto Select Market feature) the "bet ref" column shows "CANCELLED" in the rows which had a bet reference in them in the previous market. None of my bets are cancelled- but the problem is that the next set of bets in the rows that now have "CANCELLED" in the Bet Ref column don't place when their turn comes arround.

If I manually clear the Bet Ref cells then the new bets place just fine- but what I'd really like is to automate this (or solve the problem some other way) so that I can go and feed the ducks whilst B.A does the work for me.

I'm sure othes who are smarter than I am have allready encountered and solved this problem- and if you wouldn't mind sharing I'd be eternally grateful.

Many thanks in advance,

Spike

OOPS! Sorry for wasting anyone's time- I've found the answer in another post. Cardinal forum sin is that (not searching properly first) - I hang my head in shame. For anyone else reading this post with the same problem the answer is to tick "clear bet refs on auto select market" in the Excel menu.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
