Increased latency to Betfair

Postby eclipse » Wed Dec 04, 2013 10:55 am

Has anyone else noticed an increase in latency time to Betfair this week? Wondered if they had moved the servers again. Also does anyone know if we are on API-NG yet and if there is any difference with speed etc compared to the existing one.

Yes, I have noticed that. this is my post in another thread

Probably a little off topic but the last few days I have noticed in my 2 different vps that BA refresh time is a little slow.

Meaning that in refresh rate 0.2 in the BA grid the Actual Refresh rate is 200-300 ms and in the brackets I get 30-60 when the normal is 15-17.

Just checked and exactly the same for me on several machines. Was previously 16 or 17 ms, with the odd blip of 3 or 4 more, now doesn't go beneath 28ms.

Something must have changed somewhere, I'd be interested to know what, even though if it's the same for everybody, I don't think that it will make much difference.

Slowing everyone down probably means its easier for their Maltese traders to front run :D

Slowing down might mean that there are a lot of people trying to connect to their servers. Doing a trace route would help though.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
