'Instant' Race Results

Postby thunderfoot » Wed May 07, 2008 3:15 pm

On Horse Racing I've found a method, which I reckon to be near perfect over the period (3 months) I've been trying it.

Might be useful to those who want 'Instant' results (even quicker than SportingLife).

Once a Race has finished, E2 shows 'In Play' and F2 shows 'Suspended'.
When Betfair starts to 'clear' the money (Columns 'B' to 'M') the Winner is the one where the Back Odds are 1000, 990 & 980 with no BACK money against these odds, and the LAY odds are the only ones WITH money still against them, all the rest (the Losers) are Lay Odds of 1.01, 1.02 & 1.03 with no LAY money against them.

The only time when I've had a problem is on a long running race that has not finished and 'Auto select markets' has kicked-in to select the next race, this usually happens on a Saturday when Races are typically 5 minutes apart.

Might be useful to those interested!!

...... also use http://thebettingsite.racingpost.co.uk/ ... results.sd as a Data/Import External Data/New Web Query alternative and/or back-up.

A little bit of jiggery-pokery in EXCEL and you can parse this data to read the selection name and compare it with BA selections.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
